Path: visi.com!winternet.com!not-for-mail From: strider@shadowmac.org (Raul Almquist) Newsgroups: winternet.gripes Subject: THANKS (NOT!!!) for my lost Email and contract!!! Date: 22 Jul 1996 03:30:29 GMT Organization: ShadowMAC Lines: 34 Message-ID: <4suskl$5so@blackice.winternet.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: shadowmac.shadowmac.org X-Newsreader: TIN [UNIX 1.3 950824BETA PL0] I wish to thank those who were responsible for my lost email for both losing my email and for NOT notifying EVERYONE via Emailed notices (as the prior management would have done) about email problems, and the following is why! As a contractor I get a LOT of my work thru the net, I had sent in my bid for a contract, I never got the response I figured I would have gotten, finally after calling the replacement staff (whom all sound quite nice, but who lacked accountability and reliability) I was informed of lost email, after hearing this, I contacted the firm I was bidding with, they figured that due to my lack of response to their emailed contractual acceptance that I was not interested and gave the $7.5k contract to another contractor, they affirmed that they accepted and confirmed my offer via email, and they sent a copy of their emailed acceptance sending for me to peruse. I am now out $7500.00 due entirely to my not receiving MY email NOR being notified anything was wrong so that I could catch things in time and respond with an appropiate timeframe, I was not happy with the way things went with this sudden changeover of personal and I am DEFINATELY NOT WITH THIS LOST EMAIL, EMAIL UPON WHICH I DEPEND FOR A M A J O R PORTION OF !MY! LIVELYHOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have since contacted my lawyer on this matter and am awaiting to hear my options from them on whether or not this is worth persuing legally and financially speaking, however I AM looking at other ISPs as this was the last straw in my camels back, I hate like hell to have to uproot myself or ShadowMAC, but reliability and responsibility are two halves of the same hand of being an ISP with my giving a failing grade on this! Screwing up or having something screwed up on you is one thing, but lacking the responsibility to insure that we are notified of such problems in a timely manner. |
